POSITION TITLE: Outreach & Program Development Coordinator (Diabetes Services)

STATUS: Full-time (40 hours per week)

LOCATION: 1699 W. Mound Street Columbus OH 43223

REPORTS TO: Director, Diabetes Youth & Family Services

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Outreach and Program Development Coordinator is designed to expand and enhance our Diabetes Services, focusing on increasing awareness and access to resources for youth and families living with diabetes. The role also aims to educate the broader community about all of LifeCare Alliance's Diabetes services. This rote wilt be instrumental in building community partnerships, developing educational programs, and driving outreach initiatives to engage underserved populations, particularly low-income families. The Coordinator will also play a key role in camp recruitment, staff training, and overall program development to ensure sustainable growth and impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE

  • Community Outreach and Engagement
  1. Establish partnerships with local healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations to raise awareness of Agency diabetes services.
  2. Attend health fairs, summer camp expos, and other community events to promote our offerings.
  3. Engage with local venues such as libraries and rec centers to host outreach events.
  • Recruitment and Outreach for Campers and Families
  1. Focus on recruiting low-income families, providing information about camperships, transportation assistance, and available resources.
  2. Increase engagement through targeted outreach efforts, ensuring services reach underserved communities.
  • Program Development and Implementation
  1. Collaborate with the Diabetes Services teams at LifeCare Alliance to develop educational programs on emerging diabetes technologies, mental health, and other relevant topics.
  2. Launch community groups and other initiatives to foster connection among families.
  3. Create fun, hands-on programs that balance education with enjoyable experiences for children and families.
  • Development of Partnerships
  1. Forge partnerships with diabetes technology companies, healthcare providers, and local nonprofits to expand services and resources.
  • Resource Creation and Information Dissemination
  1. Assist in the development of community resources.
  2. Ensure Agency resources are accessible to families and widely distributed.
  • Summer Camp Leadership
  1. Serve as Assistant Camp Director, overseeing daily camp operations, staff training, and program development.
  2. Ensure camp activities are educational and meet health and safety standards.
  3. Maintain communication with parents, ensuring their questions and concerns are addressed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Work requires attention to detail, strong writing, and communication skills, knowledge of diabetes programming and best practices. This position heavily supports Director's goals, program special events, and key partner development. This position requires a professional demeanor at all times to project a positive image that is crucial to the success of the Agency. Work performed in this position will be of a professional and confidential nature. Work requires an understanding of general office practices and an understanding of the inner workings of the Agency, its programs, and fiscal status. It also requires performing multiple tasks with multiple deadlines.

Work requires a current knowledge of diabetes healthcare programs as well as the needs of individuals and families living with diabetes. The individual must be able to conduct Agency business in a variety of public and private settings, including public speaking settings and must be able to handle multiple tasks and stressful situations while maintaining a professional and ethical demeanor at all times. A positive and cooperative image is crucial for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves a mix of in-office work and community engagement, with travel required for events and partner meetings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in community outreach, program development, or youth services, preferably in a health-related field.
  • Experience working at summer camps or with youth camp programs is preferred Strong understanding of diabetes management and related healthcare services.
  • Proven experience in building partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers and staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. A passion for supporting families and youth living with chronic health conditions.
