General Summary: The Clinical Liaison is responsible for building and maintaining a professional relationship with key referral sources within LifeCare’s referring entities. Through the development of relationships, they generate patient referrals from their assigned accounts. They are responsible for meeting their volume expectations for referrals and admissions. The Liaison performs relationship development with referral sources that both directly refers and influences patient referrals. These contacts are primarily planned and unplanned face to face contacts and they require the skill to expand and maintain strong relationships throughout a referring organization. The Liaison develops strategic plans to effectively manage their accounts and to expand into new accounts as assigned. The Liaison performs clinical assessments to determine the LTACH appropriateness of all patient referrals and meets with patients and their families to educate about our hospitals, services, and programs. The Clinical Liaison is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.
Patient Population: Has contact with patients in a clinical setting; understands and demonstrates appropriate behavior when interacting with patients in the adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older) populations.
Supervision: Does not direct or supervise the functions of the department.

Job-Specific Essential Functions
1. Consistently meets their referral and appropriate LTACH admission goals as defined by the Director of Business Development.
2. Demonstrates the relationship development and sales skills required to develop long term relationships that effectively generate patient referrals and admissions. Delivers professional presentations to groups of referral sources on LifeCare and the services we provide. Participates in community organizations that directly impact LifeCare’s referral sources and patient population.
3. Represents LifeCare in a positive, professional, and accurate way that demonstrates the Company’s mission statement.
4. Utilizes an Account Management System/Outlook to manage accounts and develops 90-day marketing plans for the assigned territory that clearly outlines tactics and strategies required to meet referral goals.
5. Maintains and effectively grows in-depth referral source relationships.
6. Completes patient assessments timely, accurately, and effectively while adhering to LifeCare’s assessment policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Experience: At least two years of clinical experience in acute care (i.e., nursing, respiratory, therapy) is required. Experience in another clinical field of study may be accepted with RVP approval. Two years of proven successful sales/marketing experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a clinical field of study or graduate of an accredited clinical program. Degree in another field of study may be accepted with RVP approval.
Licensure/Certification: Current clinical license in state where practicing is preferred but not required (includes RN, LP/VN, RT, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift, move, transport and position equipment or supplies/materials up to ten (10) pounds without assistance; or over ten (10) pounds with the aid of mechanical assistance or assistance of personnel.
2. Range of motion and mobility of self by positioning or moving around hospital to include to include sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
3. Ability to communicate with patients, families, physicians, co-workers, and visitors to be able to exchange accurate information regarding patient condition and health status. Ability to exchange and express information by means of language and communicate information effectively.
4. Ability to hear the nature of sounds. Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Environmental/Working Conditions:
1. Category 2 - Infection exposure due to jobs in which required tasks do not normally involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but may require performing unplanned Category 1 tasks. In these jobs the normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. However, potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment.
2. Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.

4. Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
