Overview:
LifeHouse Child Advocacy Center (LifeHouse) is a nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center in Topeka, Kansas. LifeHouse is a community based, nonprofit agency designed to meet the needs of child abuse victims by bringing together a multi-disciplinary team of expert, caring adults to provide the best care possible. LifeHouse is focused on helping kids be kids again.
The Development Director is a new position and a key leadership role that will drive the organization’s fundraising efforts, including annual giving, donor cultivation, event management, and some grant writing. A major focus of the Development Director’s responsibilities will be to coordinate the efforts for a $2.2 million dollar capital campaign for facility expansion by working collaboratively with the leadership team, board members, and external stakeholders to secure funding for the campaign.

Key Responsibilities:
General Fundraising and Donor Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy, including major gifts, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and grants.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with current benefactors while identifying and engaging new donors.
- Implement and manage a donor management system.
- Create and oversee donor recognition programs to enhance donor engagement and retention.
Capital Campaign Leadership
- Partner with the Executive Director, board of directors, and campaign committee to design and execute a successful capital campaign.
- Develop campaign strategies, timelines, and benchmarks to achieve fundraising goals.
- Manage campaign communications, including case statements, proposals, and progress updates.
- Identify and cultivate major donors, foundations, and corporations specifically for the capital campaign.
Event Planning and Management
- Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events, including the annual Golf Tournament, LifeHouse Heroes Campaign, Dueling Pianos, and campaign-specific activities such as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
- Develop and manage event budgets, sponsorship opportunities, and marketing efforts.
Board and Volunteer Collaboration
- Work with the board of directors and development committee to engage their networks in fundraising efforts.
- Train and support board members and volunteers in donor cultivation and solicitation activities.
Marketing and Communications
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding in all development-related communications.
· Create donor communications, including newsletters, annual reports, and campaign updates.
· Manage all social media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in nonprofit development or fundraising, with demonstrated success in securing major gifts and managing campaigns.
- Experience planning and executing capital campaigns are strongly preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Proficiency with donor management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passion for serving children and families and a commitment to advancing the goals of LifeHouse.
