Key Purpose:
The Director, Enterprise Applications will turn IT vision into strategy and oversee day-to-day activities of IT domains (Business Systems, Clinical & Trial Operations Applications, Integrations, Data Warehousing, Data Security and Systems Architecture).
The Director, Enterprise Applications, will lead new application implementations, upgrades, development and product enhancements, as well as manage team members responsible for development and enhancement of business and clinical applications, applications and database administration, and application integrations.
The Director will work across all departments to help provide scope and estimates for development projects and provide this information to staff in a timely manner and see that development is completed within the scope set forth by the Project or IT Leadership Team. The ability to manage and mentor staff is essential.
Primary Duties Responsibility:
- As a member of the IT leadership team, provide strategic leadership around application implementation/management, development strategies, platform capacity and utilization, as well as resource planning.
- Partner with fellow IT leadership team members to build and execute strategy that will enable the business to achieve its aggressive growth plans, improve speed to market and reduce operating expenses.
- Drive continual improvement within the software development, applications and database administration and integration sectors. Enable and support process excellence and process improvements.
- Provide strong leadership to geographically dispersed teams. Responsible for the direct management of assigned staff including performance management, career development & growth, training, and employee relations. Recruit, hire, retain and develop top talent within the function. Measure team against key performance indicators.
- Develop and lead the implementation of multiple projects and initiatives in a fast-paced, challenging environment with multiple priorities.
- Create a culture within the applications organization that rewards success, promotes accountability, and encourages collaboration.
- Establish and proactively enhance the service delivery model to ensure that the expectations between the business and technology are achieved.
- Responsible for identifying appropriate resources needed to accomplish task and developing schedules to ensure timely project completion.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions with both business partner and management to determine the scope and objectives of each project.
- Manage day-to-day operations of development, applications administration, database administration, and integration teams.
- Participate in planning for current and future internally developed releases and extensions to vendor procured applications.
- Understand content and prioritization of development projects, participate in technical analysis, assign resources to perform technical analysis, programming and unit testing, QA, and deployment activities.
- Creates and enforces development, applications administration, database administration, and integration standards.
- Establish and maintain capacity planning standards, application and database performance standards, and application and database monitoring standards.
- Ensures compliance with packaged application and database licensing agreements.
- Bachelor's Degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science or related field. Master s Degree in Information Systems Management or Business Administration preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
- 10 years experience with 5 years direct management of functional and technical resources
- Advanced problem analysis and problem-solving skills
- Strong business acumen
- Strong knowledge of clinical trial operations
- Ability to communicate the details of many ongoing and critical support, development, systems/database administration, data security, and technology architecture challenges to technical and non-technical personnel and effectively interact with business partners as Veristats technology and systems expert
- Product management, business analysis, process creation and improvement skills ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience in developing multiple concurrent software development projects using a Systems Development Life Cycle
- Experience with Data architecture/data design
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
- Required technologies: NetSuite, OpenAir for NetSuite, Boomi or middleware, Salesforce, Clinical Trial Management Application, eQMS, Feasibility Application, Grant Management Application, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Information Applications, and other systems experience related to the CRO industry and back-office support
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Strong management, personnel leadership, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Customer relationship management skills
