This position is responsible for implementing Pathways programs. Participate in daily rounds. Coordinate and oversee playgroups, group walks, dog pairing and other outdoor enrichment activities. Provide support for animals in placement programs (foster and adoption). Assist Animal Care staff with animal handling training and education.

· Provide excellent customer service and communications to clients, coworkers and volunteers.
· Participate in rounds with other departments to identify dogs with a shelter-based behavioral decline or behavior challenges and develop plans to place them in foster homes and provide extra enrichment as needed.
· Lead regular playgroups, maintaining notes and assuring that protocols are followed.
· Use playgroups for dog test interactions and pairing.
· Work with Placement teams to provide support for animals out of the shelter.
· Assist in educating fosters, adopters and community members on dog care and behavior.
· Assist with data entry and keep accurate records on animal observations, notes and interactions for the Pathways Manager and team. Ensure data is accurate, current and checked regularly.
· Help organize and oversee volunteers and staff who are assisting with enrichment plan implementation.
· Work with foster parents to implement behavior plans for foster animals as prescribed by the Pathways Manager and follow up regularly.
· Assist in monitoring dogs outside and maintaining a clean outdoor environment.
· Ensure an onsite dog foster program presence to handle onsite foster customer service experiences and assist with foster dog placements and support for the foster.
· Handle foster dog meet and greets and handoffs to foster parents. This includes:
o Matching fosters with dogs and following the send out protocol outlined in the send-out guide.
o Ensure that dogs are fitted with the appropriate collar and/or other equipment and supplies.
o Educate the foster parent on the foster process at hand-off, including covering our most important dos and don’ts, passing on/emailing any applicable handouts and having the foster parent sign any necessary documents.
o Help with adoption meetings for fosters as needed.
· Cover the Foster and Behavior emails to ensure all emails are being answered in a timely manner.
· Provide direct animal care when needed.
· Work on other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
· Experience in animal related field preferably demonstrating behavior modification knowledge.
· Certification in animal behavior training or working toward certification highly desired.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Knowledge in animal health and well-being to include nutrition needs, resources for information, knowledge of common animal diseases.
· Must be available to work on weekends.
· Organized with excellent recordkeeping skills.
· Must pass background check and drug screening.
Education and/or Experience:
· Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
· Experience in a shelter or kennel.
Language Skills:
Must be able to read and interpret policy guidelines and policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively to visitors and provide good customer services.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
· Valid, Georgia Drivers license may be required.
· Animal behavior and/or training certification a plus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to a kennel that is not air-conditioned and may be exposed to unpleasant kennel smells. May have to handle dogs and cats that are stray, injured, diseased or vicious.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
