Lifelong Access is seeking a Child Development Therapist to join our growing team of early intervention specialists. In this position you will work with children from birth to 36 months of age to provide developmental therapy, screening, special instruction, coordination, linkage, advocacy, and support services to families/children who are developmentally delayed, at-risk for such, and/or diagnosed with a developmental disability. The Therapist will be responsible for designing learning environments and activities that promote children’s development including cognitive processes and social interactions. Services provided are both clinic and community based. Primary responsibilities include:
- Schedule an initial visit with family to secure intake information
- Administer necessary developmental screening and assessments for children
- Develop, review, and amend Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP) with families, and as appropriate other providers, and Child & Family Connections
- Assist in achieving and measuring family outcomes of the IFSP
- Initiate referrals to/for ancillary services and resources
- Act as ongoing Service Facilitator for assigned children/families
- Plan and implement group classes for identified children/families when appropriate
- Plan and implement developmental therapy intervention sessions in Pediatric Therapy, community, or home as appropriate
- Plan and implement community education activities and in-services related to Pediatric activities and early intervention issues, when requested by supervisor.
- Assist with community interagency activities, e.g. screenings, McLIC, Child & Family Connections, as needed
- Attend in-service training annually to obtain and maintain Early Intervention credentialing and become enrolled in the State EI System
- Participate in events scheduled in evening or Saturdays as needed
- Assist/facilitate transition process with families
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Special Education, or field as required by DHS
- Required coursework as stated by DHS
- Possess knowledge of social services
- Possess knowledge of child development and family dynamics
- Previous experience/training in working with children who have special needs preferred
- Pursue Developmental Therapy Credentialing through Early Intervention System and maintain credential
- Valid Illinois driver’s license with driving record in good standing
- Current proof of automobile insurance
