Lifepoint Health has an opportunity for a AVP Cerner Clinical - Remote. The AVP Cerner Clinical provides leadership to the strategic development, implementation, and related meaningful use of Oracle/Cerner Electronic Health Records (EHR) within Lifepoint Healthcare venues, and provides clinical, informatics, and project management leadership to the team and assuring inclusion of others within the Cerner Clinical team as appropriate to meet objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

  • Take a leadership role in plan, deploy, and remediate technology initiatives with focus on provider adoption and patient outcomes with clinicians and the appropriate Health Support Center (HSC) and facility stakeholders.  Develop and maintain repeat.
  • Assume a leadership role and serve as the principal subject matter expert (SME) associated with clinical process improvements and solutions deployments such as within the electronic documentation systems (CPOE, clinical documentation, Evidence-Based Order Sets, Enhancement Process), and strategies to imbed operational technology into clinician workflow, improving productivity, clinical decision making, training, and patient outcomes.
  • Assume a leadership role in the Cerner solutions clinical components, especially in the areas of Post-Acute, Behavioral Health and the Therapies.  Development of a repeatable model(s) of deployment for all the different types, ex Joint Venture (JV), Post-Acute, Acute, etc.
  • Function as a liaison among facility and market-based clinicians and HSC Ops Leadership, Quality, HITS, Development/Transition, and other departments to ensure clinical needs are clearly articulated and understood so that appropriate solutions can be developed and deployed.
  • Lead due diligence efforts for the Cerner Clinical Services team in collaboration with the Development and Transition teams of Lifepoint Health.
  • Oversee delivery management, downtime solutions, and improvement related to assigned clinical systems.
  • Maintain strong leadership role in guiding the development and deployment of materials and process design associated with area of responsibility, including training programs, sample ideal process flows, templates, governance models, etc.
  • Gather, lead, and support a team with a focus on skills and knowledge on the technology, as well as adoption aspects of clinical technology.
  • Serve as a change agent to help lead complex, interconnected clinical technology initiatives.
  • Support the quality initiatives throughout the organization and recommend system solutions or aids to enhance the technology solutions for improved patient outcomes.
  • Work directly with solutions vendors in the design, prioritization, and adoption of on-going improvements to clinical solutions.
  • Collaborate with all levels of leadership at the HSC and within facilities to provide guidance in the adoption of clinical documentation systems and other clinical technologies, use of data, with the goal to achieve positive patient outcomes with Lifepoint Health. 
  • Focus on mitigating the impact the EHR and other technologies on the workflow of providers and other clinicians and leads the system-centric teams while devising strategies to offer support and remove barriers to adoption.

Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).  Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Masters degree preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience; including 5 years in clinical setting and at least -5 years’ experience with informatics and systems implementations. Progressive leadership experience managing resources and teams.

Extensive overnight travel (over 50%) by land and/or air.
