About the Position
The Regional Supervisor of Social Services (RSSS) / Director of Social Services (DSS) will provide administrative support to the Regional Director of Social Services (RDSS) and manage the assigned DSS sites within the region. While performing as the RSSS is expected to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment when implementing, and coordinating tasks for the RDSS; and must have the ability to handle shifting priorities and multiple projects independently, when assigned as the DSS.
Core Duties include the following, but not limited to:
- Cultivate, articulate and live out the LifeSTEPS workplace values of integrity, innovation, empowerment, respect and personal growth in tandem with the Oz Principle.
- Support standards and procedures related to staff, training and on-going communication, budget, reimbursement requests and timecards.
- Work collaboratively to support organizational growth, to include expansion of region with partners and properties.
- Empower staff to manage competing priorities, projects and all aspects of resident service delivery.
Director of Social Services Duties
- Empower low-income individuals and families to flourish by providing education and resources.
- Ensure our residents, specifically older adults to have an opportunity to thrive in place through housing and services.
- Encourage individuals and families through stable housing and supportive evidence-based services to build resilient communities.
- Maximize the strengths of individuals by providing client assistance, case management, service coordination, and conducting community outreach.
Regional Supervisor of Social Services Duties:
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, specified grant requirements, and specified contract/program requirements.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, forecasting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Oversee onsite programs and conducts quarterly onsite visits to properties to ensure agency meets standards and procedures criteria.
- Review content of database entries, monthly service reports, and any other required reports; ensure they are accurate and turned in by applicable due dates.
- Review case records, time cards and expense reimbursement report.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure that community programs and case management are developed at all assigned sites.
- Provide feedback and complete quarterly compliance audits.
- Oversee required staff trainings as determined by LifeSTEPS management, applicable laws, and contracts/program requirements.
- Participate in planning and hosting special events.
- Assist in the processing of the Client Assistance Program.
- Extensive travel within assigned region; occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
Job Specifics:
- Official Job Title: Regional Supervisor of Social Services (RSSSI) / Director of Social Services (DSS)
- Job classification: Non-Exempt, 10 hours per week for the RSSSI assignment. These hours are typically offered with a DSS portfolio assignment. Hours may range for DSS assignment.
- Rates of Pay: RSSSI: $27-$30.00 per hour, DOE. DSS: $23.00 per hour
- Job Location: Santa Clara County, CA
Education and/or Experience and/or License Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in a similar environment providing social services.
- One (1) year of experience in a supervisory role preferred.
- Master's degree in social work or related field preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree.
