JOB SUMMARY: The Child Care Specialist provides services for the children of the families residing at Anthony House. A successful Child Care Specialist is someone who has a high level of patience and tolerance for frustration. Initiative, dependability and accuracy are important. The ability to analyze situations and mange them in a proactive manner is helpful with a desire and ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification with or without an accommodation. • This position requires moderate to high complex job skills and a high level of job autonomy. Knowledge of behavior philosophies and best practices in the field of child development and behavior are necessary. Must demonstrate competence in working with young children. Must have knowledge of early childhood developmental stages and be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with the families and children. Must possess good problem-solving skills.
• Supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care, organize mealtimes and snacks for children, help children keep good hygiene; change the diapers of infants and toddler. Responsible for cleanliness of the facility including cleaning bathroom, playroom, and laundry.
• Knowledge of child development theory and practices as well as safe and appropriate child activities. Organize activities so that children can learn about the world and explore interests, develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime, watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of parents.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Education:
o High School Diploma or equivalent required
o Associate’s Degree preferred
o Must be First Aid and CPR Certified prior to hire
• Experience:
o Minimum of three (3) years experience working with children or CDA certificate and at least one (1) year experience working with children
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: Completes all requirements according to Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually. Other training and/or professional development may be assigned due to evolution of programs.
