Growing Private Practice is currently looking for an experienced Optician/Optical Sales Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong sales ability with eyeglasses and contact lenses as well as assist in other departments within the office with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Qualified candidates MUST have experience working in optical sales and customer service and are eager to cross-train in ALL aspects of the office. Must have basic knowledge of vision insurance, billing, and claims. Previous experience in an optometry or ophthalmology position is required.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Educate patients on eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens enhancements options.
- Placing glasses and lens orders through vision benefits and lab.
- Dispensing, repairing, and adjusting eyeglasses.
- Filing vision insurance claims, reconciling vision insurance claims.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills
- Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and follow schedules.
- Ability to work within a team setting and as an individual contributor.
- Willingness to cross-train in other aspects of the office.
Physical Demands:
- Required use of hands for glasses adjustments/repairs
- Required to stand, walk, and sit throughout the day.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10lbs.
- Specific abilities to include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Education:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
Experience & Background:
- Experience in the optometry/ophthalmology field (1 year) required.
- Experience working in optician/optical sales (2 years) required.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word and computers.
- Familiar with EHR programs, inputting data, etc.
Hourly pay is negotiable, dependent upon experience.
