Field Service Technician
Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician will perform repair work and maintenance for lift trucks and other equipment. This position reports to the Field Service Manager or Service Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Daily travel to customer location(s)
- Identifies/troubleshoot mechanical problems with lift trucks or other equipment.
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
- Performs repairs, replacements, or preventative maintenance.
- Performs further tests that may include test driving the vehicle to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- Estimate or quote repair costs.
- Maintain personal service van and inventory as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of the specialized area and general equipment repair.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
- Ability to read work orders.
- Must be willing to submit and pass an annual MVR check.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work safely in areas with potential exposure to cold/hot temperatures, noise pollution, dust, solvents, fuels, and battery acid.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
- Must be able to stand for 6 hours daily.
- Good binocular vision to inspect repair work.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
