Bookkeeper & HR Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper & HR Assistant to oversee financial and human resources functions. This role is responsible for bookkeeping, payroll processing, benefits administration (health insurance, 401(k), workers' compensation), liability insurance, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will also coordinate audits, tax filings, and budget planning while managing HR-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Management:
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger.
- Pay bills and issue checks on time.
- Process payroll and ensure tax compliance.
- Manage investments and financial accounts.
- Generate budgets and track financial performance.
- Meet with accountants to prepare financial reports for board meetings.
- Assist with year-end taxes and coordinate tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with audits and financial regulations.
Assist the ED in HR & Benefits Administration:
- Manage employee payroll and benefits, including health insurance and 401(k).
- Oversee workers’ compensation claims and compliance.
- Administer building liability insurance and other company policies.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR regulations.
- Handle employee records, onboarding, and HR documentation.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or Business Administration.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and HR management.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, payroll systems, and HRIS software.
- Knowledge of employment laws, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Certifications (a plus, but not required):
- Certified Bookkeeper (CB) – American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) – HR Certification Institute
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) – American Payroll Association
Salary : $45,000 - $51,000
