Lighthouse Christian Academy, an IHSAA 1A school, is seeking a passionate and Christ-centered Head Basketball Coach to lead our program in both athletic excellence and spiritual development. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to mentoring young athletes, fostering teamwork, and instilling a strong work ethic through a biblical worldview. This role goes beyond coaching—it’s about discipleship, character building, and preparing student-athletes for success on and off the court.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a competitive and Christ-honoring basketball program that fosters skill development, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Conduct structured, high-energy practices that emphasize both fundamentals and advanced strategies to compete at the IHSAA 1A level.
- Evaluate player performance and provide intentional, constructive feedback to promote individual and team improvement.
- Model and instill Christ-like sportsmanship, humility, discipline, and perseverance in all players.
- Organize and oversee game strategy, scouting, and film review to maximize team performance.
- Effectively communicate with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress, schedules, and expectations.
- Maintain a safe, structured training environment by ensuring proper equipment usage and adherence to safety protocols.
- Partner with school leadership to build a culture of excellence that aligns with LCA’s mission and values.
- Assist with off-season conditioning, camps, and player development to maintain program growth.
Requirements:
- Proven coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the high school level.
- Strong leadership and discipleship mindset, integrating faith into coaching and mentoring.
- Understanding of IHSAA 1A competition standards and ability to develop a program that competes at a high level.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire young athletes.
- Commitment to upholding LCA’s mission and values, both on and off the court.
- Ability to engage in physical activity related to coaching duties, including demonstrating techniques and participating in drills.
- Prior experience in athletics, mentoring, or youth ministry is a plus.
