What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Head Football Coach position at Eastern Greene Schools?
The head coach is responsible for planning, directing, and leading an education based athletic program that seeks to develop athletes of empathy, integrity, and moral courage. Eastern Greene is a 1A school in football and competes in Sectional 47, currently with Edinburgh, Greenwood Christian Academy, Knightstown, Milan, North Decatur, South Decatur, and West Washington.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must complete the coaches certification courses provided by the NFHS and required by the IHSAA.
2. Experience coaching in an Education Based athletic program required.
3. Certified teacher preferred. Teaching positions may be available.
4. Playing and/or coaching experience preferred
JOB GOALS:
To accept the responsibility of the program and work with the student-athletes in the sport assigned and to provide life lessons that will positively impact the physical, social, and emotional well-being of all who are involved.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide instruction; plan, coordinate, and coach your respective sport. Develop, supervise, and administrate the football program throughout the school.
Staff Formation - Help select coaches for all levels of Thunderbird Football; Instruct coaches at lower levels on proper fundamentals and scheme.
Fundraising - Fundraise for needs above what the Athletic Department is able to provide.
Communication - Communicate expectations to players and parents; Communicate schedule and events with players and parents; Highlight the Thunderbird Football Program and its athletes; Utilize the corporation’s choice of technology to disseminate information.
Lead Players and Coaches - Model appropriate behavior; Develop a program that the Eastern Greene Community will be proud of, on and off of the field.
Qualities/Abilities - A passion for coaching and mentoring; Motivational and engaging - ability to recruit students to the sport; Create excitement around the program - hold events that engage fans and community members and support/attend other school functions.
