What We Are Looking For
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the employee lifecycle as needed as well as managing all aspects of benefits administration, onboarding, reporting, auditing, credentialing, and employee engagement activities. This role ensures compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while fostering a supportive and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to employee satisfaction.
Benefits Administration:
- Champion, administer, and maintain employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, FMLA/leave policies, and wellness programs.
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and issues.
- Coordinate benefit contract dates and educate employees on benefits.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Onboarding:
- Partner with the TA Specialist to coordinate and onboard new employees
- Assist hiring managers and new hires on their first day with badging
- Monitor the progress of new hires and provide support during their initial period of employment.
- Own the Digital Onboarding process for field/union labor
Credentialing:
- Oversee the credentialing process, including background checks, DOT physicals, and drug-free workplace programs.
- Ensure all employees meet required credentialing standards and maintain up-to-date records.
- Coordinate with external vendors to facilitate timely and accurate credentialing procedures.
- Monitor compliance with DOT and drug-free workplace regulations and implement corrective actions as needed.
Auditing and Reporting
- Conduct regular audits of HR processes and records to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Prepare and maintain HR-related reports and metrics, including turnover rates, headcount, and employee demographic
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of required reports to regulatory agencies.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on workplace policies, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Investigate and resolve employee concerns in a fair, consistent, and confidential manner to foster a positive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and best practices to mitigate risk and maintain a positive work environment.
Employee Engagement:
- Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to enhance workplace morale and productivity.
- Organize and oversee company events, recognition programs, and team-building activities.
- Conduct employee surveys and analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
- 5 years of experience in an HR Generalist role or similar position.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, practices, and legal regulations.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Skills:
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
- 2 years experience with benefits administration, FMLA and LOA administration, employee engagement initiatives, and credentialing processes.
- Familiarity with HR auditing processes and compliance requirements.
- Experience with HRIS implementation is a plus
