Job Description Summary:
The Human Resources Intern will work under the supervision of the Human Resources Director and assist with a variety of human resources activities and functions to help meet the organization and department expectations. This position will also work with the Human Resources Director and Vice President of Operations to help cultivate and build a people centric culture.
This position must be a team player, and show humility, trustworthiness, and respect. It is important for individuals to be committed to a continuous learning environment and a champion for change, with a teamwork mentality. This position will also be responsible for collaboration with Lighthouse of Houston’s support departments.

Qualifications
Roles and Responsibilities:

HR Compliance – Assist with Human Resources policy and procedural management to help ensure organizational compliance from a legal and ethical perspective.

EEOC Compliance and Government reporting – Work with HR Director on EEOC Compliance and government reporting.

Performance Management – Observe how performance management evaluations are conducted and assist with performance management processes, including goal setting and performance evaluations.

On-boarding /Off-boarding - Assist with New Employee Orientation including on-boarding and off-boarding processes and programs.

Collaboration – Attend meetings with other departments and collaborate on various projects and initiatives, contributing fresh ideas and perspective.

HRIS – Update and maintain employees records and generate reports using the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
-
HR Research - Conduct research on HR best practices and make recommendations for improvement.

Benefits and Compensation Administration – Assist with benefits administration including communication with employees regarding their benefits or changes.

Employee Relations and Engagement – Assist with employee relations issues, including investigations and conflict resolution.

Talent Acquisition - Assist with full life cycle recruiting including creating job requisitions, job postings, and assisting with job offers and other recruiting functions.

Professional Development and Job Fairs – Help to create Job Fairs and professional development programs for applicants and employees.

Streamlining processes - Identifies opportunities to optimize and streamline HR processes and programs.

Training and Development – Assist with setting up and documenting training for employees using the Human Resources Information system.

Other General Duties - Perform other human resources duties as assigned.
Education, Licensure and Experience:

Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
