Job Description
JOB TITLE : Purchasing Manager
REPORTS TO : VP Operations / COO
FLSA STATUS : Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
Purchasing Manager will provide leadership, coordinate purchasing activities and ensure vendor compliance with company's purchasing policies and guidelines to obtain the best possible combination of price, quality and service for both LHB manufacturing facilities. This position will work closely with the Sales, Quality, Production, Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing departments to help ensure inventory availability and smooth flow of supplies & raw materials through the Supply Chain. Demonstrates and promotes LHB's values.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provides leadership and helps develop and implement company purchasing strategies and policies.
- Establishes and maintains vendor relationships while negotiating for best possible price. Routinely evaluates vendor performance.
- Ensures vendor compliance with customer specifications.
- Ensures proper expediting of material to meet company needs and benefit inventory turnover.
- Prepares contracts, issues POs in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions.
- Maintains all purchasing documents including vendor and parts files.
- Creates bids and maintains bid files for government and commercial customers.
- Works with Sales and understands production scheduling process to help set PAR levels for finished goods and raw materials to ensure uninterrupted production and finished goods availability.
- Works with vendors to reduce lead times and optimize purchasing and receiving processes.
- Drives continual improvement / excellence in purchasing and planning operations.
- Provides accurate and timely reports detailing the effective functioning of the purchasing department.
- Supports company mission and demonstrates company values in all aspects of their work performance.
- Actively engages in mentoring and development of direct reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
