What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telecom Horizontal Directional Drill Locator position at Lighthouse Technologies?
The Horizontal Directional Drill Locator will implement all directional drilling plans and procedures, oversee all drilling operations, and ensure compliance to all drilling objectives. In this role, some of your responsibilities include locating utilities, hand digging, horizontal directional drilling, trenching and general labor. The HDD Locator will work directly with the Directional Drill Operator to ensure compliance to all drilling objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable and safe when operating locating equipment, hydro vacs, core drills and hand tools.
- Operates locator for installation of underground telecommunications cable including fiber optic cable.
- Complete daily safety/vehicle/equipment inspections.
- Complete daily tasks as assigned by your Operator in a safe and efficient manner.
- Verification of proper potholing/day lighting of existing facilities and utilities in the work area.
- Setup and operate various directional boring equipment.
- A clear understanding of locating information and utility conflict resolution
- Follow safety and drilling operation procedures at all times to guarantee a safe work environment at all times.
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting within the work area
- Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry 80-100 lbs
- Must be comfortable with heights up to 28 feet
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, peers, etc.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, and dry)
- Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders)
- Must be able to work in a loud, noise-filled environment out in the field
