What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor - Central Services - Central Services position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health System's mission, vision, values, objectives and policies, and procedures the Supervisor - Central Sterile Processing oversees and directs the Central Sterile Processing department ensuring the effective and efficient operation for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment used in the Surgery department and other hospital areas. Ensures effective management and direction of Central Sterile staff and the material resources and inventory within the Central Sterile Processing Department. Provides educational opportunities, retraining and in-services for the Central Sterile staff. Enforces policies, procedures, and standards of operation by working directly with Infection Control, Risk Management, and Safety. Responsible for ensuring the Central Sterile department meets accreditation, regulatory, and recommended standards. Maintains a current knowledge of industry trends and emerging technology/practices. Participates as a member of IAHCSMM. Manages the distribution and follow-up throughout the facility of FDA/ Manufacturer recall notices, Responsible for the accuracy of patient charges processed through Central Sterile.
Education: A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: BLS required. CRCST / IAHCSMM certification preferred. If not certified upon employment must obtain CRST within 1st year of employment and IAHCSMM within 3rd year of employment.
Experience: Three years previous experience in Central Sterile Processing and supervisory experience preferred.
Skills: Must have strong communication skills and the ability to interact and build effective relationships with all constituents, including physicians and associates. Must also have a documented history of effective team building, creating a Culture of Safety, and leading positive change. Strong numeric, basic computer skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of a Central Sterile department.
