Drafter

The Drafter is a critical role responsible for creating and modifying detailed construction drawings and specifications for various projects. This person will collaborate closely with the sales team, fabrication team, and project managers to ensure accuracy and adherence to design standards. The drafter’s expertise will contribute to the successful execution of projects from conception to completion by providing accurate build instructions and reference drawings.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Drafting & Design:

• Create and modify detailed layout and construction drawings using CAD software.
• Develop build drawings that accurately represent project specifications and requirements. 

Collaboration:

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and design teams to gather project requirements and integrate feedback. 
• Participate in project meetings to discuss design changes and technical challenges.  

Quality Control:

• Review and verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. 
• Conduct site visits as necessary to ensure drawings align with actual project conditions. 

Documentation:

• Maintain organized records of all drawings and revisions, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
• Prepare and submit drawing packages for internal review and client approval.  

Research & Development:

• Stay current with industry standards, drafting technologies, and best practices to enhance skills and improve processes. 
• Assist in the development of new drafting standards and protocols.

• Accuracy / Detail Oriented – work with excellence to maintain a high-level detail in drawings to provide stakeholders clear build instructions and direction for decision-making.
• Timeliness – capable of working under pressure with tight deadlines on multiple projects at once in different phases of production.
• Quality – maintain high standards of quality in finished work.
• Communication / Collaboration – capable of working closely and overcommunicating with other functions, functional leaders, and fabrication teams.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Highly organized, and flexible with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project, and deadline-oriented environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-centric mindset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software such as Adobe Illustrator, In Design, Rhino, Sketchup, & SolidWorks.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting and building drawing production.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
