Senior Accountant
Job Summary
Plan, organize and administer specialized accounting activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for
developing financial statements and reports. May provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountants.
Responsibility
- Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports both externally and internally as assigned in a timely manner.
- Lead in preparing journal entries, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure all Corporate deadlines of both parent companies are met regarding intercompany reconciliation, tax entry and other filing / reporting deadlines as required.
- Maintain sub ledger for all customer-owned assets and ensure it is continually updated.
- Maintain manual accrual & inventory sub-ledgers and ensure that product & inventory costing is correct.
- Support year-end audit process.
- Assist in the forecast/budget process as assigned.
- Assist in setting up processes / procedures impacting the account department.
- Lead physical inventory counts and reconciliation from an accounting perspective
- Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
- Foster best practices from both parent companies into Linamar’s operating systems & processes.
- Other duties assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline is required.
- CPA strongly preferred.

- Three to five years of significant accounting experience.
- Ability to interpret graphs of financial variables and create tables to track financial data and locate features of business and accounting processes in flowcharts.
- Ability to prepare financial summaries such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Ability to evaluate the accuracy of financial data and assess financial risks for accounting systems and business practices.
- Ability to discuss a variety of accounting and work-related topics with co-workers and colleagues.
- Ability to present financial information to managers and supervisors.
- Ability to integrate tasks with co-workers such as clerks, other accountants, supervisors and managers to observe accounting and administrative requirements and meet deadlines.
- Interact with co-workers and accountants within Linamar and both parent companies and act as a liaison between all three.
- Beginner to intermediate working knowledge of SAP FI & CO Modules. Additional SAP experience is an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Cognos.
- Continuously maintain current knowledge of all organizational accounting practices through seminars, webinars and professional conferences as needed.
- Advanced English written & verbal communication skills. Knowledge of German language is an asset but not required
