Janitorial Maintenance

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian/Ground keeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of common areas, performing minor repairs and maintenance, assisting with grounds upkeep, and handling landscaping duties. This position requires attention to detail, a proactive approach, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment both inside and outside the building.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and janitorial duties in common areas of the building, including hallways, bathrooms, and offices.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging pipes, and addressing basic building needs.
• Conduct landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming lawns and hedges, and maintaining garden areas.
• Shovel and salt sidewalks, driveways, and entrances during snowy conditions to ensure safety. Availability for weekend coverage if winter storm comes through.
• Maintain a neat and organized janitor’s room; ensure cleaning and maintenance supplies are well-stocked.
• Wash windows and ensure the building’s exterior is clean and presentable.
• Assist with inspecting the building for safety hazards and report deficiencies to the lead custodian or supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or grounds keeping work preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, landscaping tools, and basic repair techniques.
• Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, shovel snow, and perform other physical tasks throughout the day.
• Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and outdoor elements.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
