Brief Job Summary
This position performs specialized duties in development and maintenance of GIS maps.
Job Responsibilities
Maps splits and/or combines of property using ArcMap software; ensures that all tax parcels are mapped correctly; prints and forwards maintenance report to Land Records Supervisor.
Reviews deeds and other documents of transfer and subdivision plats and enters information into software.
Obtains plats, deeds, and other documents of transfer from Register of Deeds office and maps plats using ArcMap; creates and prints property maps; prepares property line adjustment letters to property owners; keys information into plat log.
Assists with preliminary plat review as needed.
Makes changes to tax records and tax maps due to parcel splits, combines corrections, transfers, neighborhood change, etc.
Assists surveyors, attorneys, realtors, title searches, and the public by telephone and in person; prints maps, researches deeds, and answers questions.
Assists other departments with information, specific requests, maps, and graphic data.
Processes county and city zoning changes in ArcMap and keys changes into AS400 system; creates and prints new zoning maps and new property record cards.
Researches death certificates and estate files and updates ownership of tax records as required; reviews estate sales.
Attends conferences and training in pursuit of mapping certifications.
Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain certification by the State of North Carolina as a certified Mapper within three years of employment.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
