Brief Job Summary
This position performs maintenance, equipment operation, and technical duties in support of department operations. Job Responsibilities
o Performs fueling and greasing on all field equipment.
o Performs assistance to customers during inclement weather.
o Performs and assists with stacking and lacing tires into the tire trailer.
o Hauls banned items from areas to be recycled .
o Bales cardboard.
o Plants grass, trees, shrubbery around the landfill for beautification.
o Collects paper and trash from landfill grounds.
o Mows grass and cuts weeds at landfill.
o Operates a water truck.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
o Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
o Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one or two years.
o Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and Skills Required - o Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.
o Knowledge of state rules and regulations governing sanitary landfills.
o Skill in the operation of a baling machine, back hoe, and bush hog.
o Skill in interpersonal relations.
o Skill in oral and written communication.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Supervisory Controls
