What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Certified Medical Assistant position at Lincoln County?
The Behavioral Health division of Lincoln County's Health and Human Services department is looking to add a Certified Medical Assistant to their team to better serve those in our community who depend on these services. We are looking for someone with a passion for helping and a desire to assist their community.
The person in this role will perform a wide variety of paraprofessional medical and mental health support duties, including assisting in the identification of patient needs through screening, interviewing and observation and in implementing care or treatment plans.
This position is also responsible for preparing patients for procedures and examinations in-person or via telehealth, assisting in the effective delivery of health care to patients by providing support services including laboratory tests, vital signs, maintenance of patient records, obtaining and entering demographic data and billing information, scheduling appointments, and generally maintaining clinic flow.

Clinical Performance:
- Perform accurate physical measurements, vital signs, screenings (such as, but not limited to, PHQ-9; GAD-7, Mood disorder screenings), and laboratory tests.
- Prepare patient for procedures and examinations and assist clinicians during exams, as necessary.
- Monitor telemedicine appointments for medical staff.
- Complete health histories, diet histories, demographic questionnaires, and report patient concerns to health care providers.
- Document patient status addressing patient care plans and make other observations as appropriate.
- Provide education to patients on a one-on-one basis or in groups as directed.
- Forecast immunizations using state data systems.
- Enter clinic data as required for programmatic reporting and billing.
- Collect and handle laboratory specimens and documents procedures.
Maintains a safe, well supplied, and attractive environment for the provision of quality care:

- Document, process, and follow up with referrals, patient requests, and outstanding labs as directed by provider.
- Process and route faxes orders to providers.
- Assist patients and providers with prescription assistance programs, pharmacy requests, prior authorizations for medications, and Med info Sheets.
- Assist with answering phones, checking in patients, and making future appointments.
- Maintain referral information for community resources.
Minimum Education Level:
High School Diploma / GED
Certifications:
Specifics: A valid, unencumbered Medical Assistant Certification or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
Driver’s License:
Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of appointment
Other Licenses:
Specifics: The employee is required to maintain current and active licensure and certifications, as applicable, and to provide copies of the appropriate verifications at the time of renewals.
Desirable Qualifications:
At least one year of experience in a health care setting is preferred. Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies for the Latino population are preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Medical terminology.

- First aid and CPR.
- Safety and sanitation.
