Description
Head Start has an opening for an Assistant Teacher at our North Crawford location in English, IN. This position will be working 35 hours per week. Responsible for assisting the Teacher in planning, organization, and implementation of education services for Head Start Birth-5 children six weeks to 5 years of age. Assistant Teachers have a strong understanding of Head Start Performance Standards, LHDC Policies, Head Start Birth-5 Forms and Procedures, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Collaborate with the Teacher to prepare and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans for classroom activities utilizing a research-based curriculum as designated by Head Start Birth-5 Management. Support the implementation of the Conscious Discipline Curriculum in the classroom. Complete duties and responsibilities as they relate to the Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and Head Start Birth-5 Forms and Procedures Manual.
Requirements
Childhood Development Associate Credential (CDA), or a state awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree, or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within one year of hire is required; knowledge of child development and experience teaching preschool children preferred. LHDC may provide on the job training to obtain the appropriate credentials if necessary.
Must meet Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations, including Head Start Standards of Conduct, federal and state criminal history requirements, sex offender registry checks, drug screen, physical and complete an annual T.B. test.
