Material Handler - 1st Shift
SUMMARY: Safely and efficiently move raw and/or finished products throughout the plant. Assure that all appropriate documentation associated with movement of product/materials is complete and accurate. Perform tasks including production work given by Supervisor.
WAGE TYPE: Hourly
$17.00 - $20.00
FLSA Exemption: Non-exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Working from computer generated work list, moves product and materials throughout the plant.
- Ensures safe material handling and operation of forklift
- Transports raw and other materials to machine operators, and in-process material to other departments as needed
- Helps in other areas requiring forklift operation as required
- Assists in unloading raw materials received from vendors and in loading finished product into semi-trailers for transport to customers as needed.
- Maintains good housekeeping standards.
- Keeps aisles clean
- Ensures parts are in appropriate place in racks
- Ensures pallets are stored in a safe and orderly manner
- Disposes of scrap in appropriate bins and in a safe manner
- Performs and/or secures assistance in preventive maintenance and repair of forklifts.
- Assists in the development of better and more efficient systems for material handling.
- Hot strips parts as required.
- Work within a team environment.
- Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals.
- Any other tasks as required to fulfill Lincoln Industries' Beliefs and Drivers.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
- Reports to: Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.
Education and/or Experience:
Expected: Reading, writing and computation skills normally acquired through the completion of high school. Good organizational skills. Ability to work independently. Computer experience. Occasional pushing, pulling, reaching, or lifting. Ability to move or lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred: Current forklift license or equivalent experience. Internal applicants must have been in their current position for at least six months
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
- Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions and safety procedures.
Other Skills:

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
