Job Description
The District Special Education Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Special Education, is a member of the district special education administrator team, including the director, assistant director, and four supervisors. The coordinator is responsible for providing district leadership support to schools, district teams, staff, parents, and students. The position will include an additional 20 days above the 14 days required as part of the coordinator stipend.
- Must qualify for, or hold, a valid Nebraska Administrative certificate with special education endorsement
- Master's or specialist's degree in educational administration
- Demonstrated successful administrative/leadership experience required along with a commitment to working in a culturally diverse learning environment.
- Position to begin July 2025.

Preferred previous experience working as a building SE coordinator for a minimum of 2 years
Position One duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Plan and facilitate New Educator Week and District Contractual professional learning
- Plan and facilitate SE Year One Tenure
- Provide quarterly professional learning for building-level SE Liaisons
- Collaborate with district departments to organize and facilitate yearly para-educator training
- Manage and lead the OT/PT Team
- Support SE Supervisors of Nonpublic and Independence Academy with special education Synergy paperwork
- Provide support for a minimum of five LPS building locations
Position Two duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Manage and lead the Vision and O & M Program
- Manage and Lead the Deaf/Blind Team
- Organize and lead the special education level transition process
- Organize UNL/VIP Athletic Activities
- Co-lead and facilitate support for new SE Coordinator/APs
- Update and maintain the Special Education website
- Provide support for a minimum of five LPS building locations
