Job Overview
We are a busy, privately owned general surgery office of 4 providers. This position is in our office at 4740 A Street, which is the hub for our General Surgery services. General Surgery patients are seen weekly in the office and are scheduled at most Lincoln facilities for surgery. Our providers also provide a large amount of care to patients at CHI Health St Elizabeth Burn & Wound Care Center and various satellite clinics.
We are looking for a team-oriented individual who is great at multi-tasking and picking up skills quickly. With the ability to work independently.
Duties
- Report to Supervisor.
- Triage medical calls, give advice, consult with medical providers as needed.
- Triage and process messages from patients/physicians/other offices to physicians, physician assistants, and supervisor and provides feedback.
- Coordination of patient care - scheduling procedures, making referrals, managing results, then relaying information to patients as directed.
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
- Complete encounter forms and patients charts, maintaining satellite clinics.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart when needed.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures as needed.
- Take and record patient histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Maintain Accurate Patient Charts.
- Provide empathetic and professional communication to patients regarding appointments, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Back up as needed in all areas of office for vacations/sickness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic or medical office environment.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle insurance verifications.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, cleans and sterilizes necessary equipment, instruments, and patient areas.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Proficiency in medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare setting.
- Experience is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a clinic is advantageous.
- Strong patient service skills with an emphasis on empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent training is preferred but not mandatory.
