PURPOSE:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Groundskeeper to join our team. The Groundskeeper will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance of our outdoor spaces. This includes managing seasonal flower beds and plants, mulching, seeding, fertilizing, and ensuring proper weed control. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, a passion for outdoor work, and a strong understanding of horticultural best practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, plant, and maintain seasonal flower beds and other plant arrangements.
- Apply much to flower beds and garden areas; seed lawns and garden spaces as needed.
- Apply fertilizers and soil amendments to plants, lawns, and garden areas for optimal growth.
- Monitor and manage weed growth through manual removal, chemical treatments, or other sustainable methods.
- Maintain clean and attractive grounds through mowing, trimming, and basic landscaping tasks.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained, stored, and ready for use.
- Adapt landscaping plans and tasks according to seasonal changes, weather patterns, and plant growth.
- Ensure that all grounds maintenance activities comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture is preferred.
- Knowledge of plant care, soil conditions, and proper mulching/fertilization techniques.
- Familiarity with various landscaping tools and equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, pruners, etc.).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

- A valid driver's license and ability to drive campus vehicles if required.
