What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Clerk position at Lincoln University of Missouri?
Purpose:
The purpose of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk is to provide support to the Purchasing Department in the areas of Shipping and Receiving and Mail Services. This position is responsible for receiving items purchased by the Purchasing department including reconciliation, inspection/ acceptance of orders, delivery of items to University departments, filling and delivery of supply orders issued from central supply tagging and listing of University non-expendable property. Receiving, sorting, and delivery of university mail.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receiving, inspection and delivery of orders, contact vendors to resolve order issues, follow up on orders not received, on hold or damaged.
- Enter received items into Ellucian/Colleague, tagging listing of non-expendable property, assist in fixed asset entries, work with Accounts Payable to maintain accurate receiving records.
- Assist with annual inventory, disposal of surplus property, general warehouse maintenance.
- Assist Warehouse Supervisor, purchasing staff and Director of Purchasing as needed.
- Monitor fuel pumps, supply use, environmental conditions in storage area, and assist in issuance of fuel.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Log mail into digital tracking systems for adequate account of individually mailed and received items.
- Distribute university mail to university community from centralized mail services location.
- Other duties as assigned based on needs of area/campus.
Qualifications:
- Must possess valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
- Knowledge of University rules and procedures.
- Ability to use Ellucian/Colleague software.
- Basic computer skills.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Previous basic training and experience in the operation of a pallet jack and/or forklift.
- Previous basic training and experience in the operation of fueling systems.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit at a workstation for extended period.
- Regular physical ability to lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regular physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account.
- Regular physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place.
- Regular physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools.
- Regular dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Regular coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot.
- Regular endurance.
