Fiesta Schoolyards, a program powered by the Lindy Foundation, seeks a passionate and organized Part-Time Project Manager to help us transform barren schoolyards and public parks into vibrant, colorful spaces that inspire play and community engagement. Through a cost-effective, rapid, and scalable approach, we enrich the lives of Philadelphia students and communities. Our goal: 100 schoolyard transformations in 10 years, with 10 completed annually. This hybrid position is based in Philadelphia, PA, with one required in-office day per week in Jenkintown and regular site visits throughout the city.
Position Summary
The Project Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Administrative Coordinator to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of schoolyard transformation projects. This dynamic role encompasses administrative, strategic, and on-the-ground responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a passion for civic engagement, nonprofit work, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
§ Manage and execute a cohort of schoolyard transformation projects per build season, ensuring timelines and goals are met.
§ Collaborate with General Contractors and Engineers to finalize site plans and specifications and address routine issues.
§ Maintain detailed project records, including photos, schedules, and progress reports.
§ Conduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve on-site challenges, and collect data on the impact of the transformed spaces on children and the community.
Event Planning
§ Assist with planning and coordinating dedication events and volunteer efforts.
Administrative Support
§ Draft contracts for external partners, including contractors and engineers.
§ Contribute to funding requests, sponsorship outreach, and grant narratives.
§ Research innovative play elements to enhance schoolyard designs.
Additional duties may be assigned to support the goal of completing 100 schoolyards and parks within 10 years.
Qualifications
§ Minimum 1 year of project management experience.
§ Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
§ Passion for civic engagement, nonprofit initiatives, and community development.
§ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
§ Access to a reliable vehicle for travel to schoolyard sites and Public Parks in Philadelphia.
§ Residence in Philadelphia is required.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $26/hour (Part-time, 28 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Schedule: Remote, with one required in-office day (Thursdays) in Jenkintown and frequent site visits in Philadelphia.
- Hours:
o Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 8:30 AM–3:00 PM (6 hours per day)
o Thursday: 9:30 AM–3:00pm (5 hours)
o Friday: 8:30 AM–2:00 PM (5 hours)
