Job Summary:
Linfield University is seeking a highly skilled and licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our Facilities Services team. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a variety of electrical systems on campus, including lighting, motors, motor control centers, fire alarms, and building controls. This position works with minimal supervision and ensures that all work complies with the National Electrical Code, OSHA, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical repairs, replacements, and installations, including systems such as lighting, motors, power distribution, and fire alarms.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using appropriate test equipment.
- Estimate costs, time, and materials for electrical work and coordinate with outside contractors when needed.
- Maintain and order electrical parts and materials; verify the accuracy of invoices and packing slips.
- Conduct electrical preventive maintenance and inspections on systems to ensure reliability.
- Evaluate and service appliances, recommending repair or replacement when necessary.
- Maintain and troubleshoot fire protection systems, including remedying trouble codes and replacing defective devices.
- Ensure electrical work is compliant with codes and regulations and maintain related records.
- Operate university vehicles, high lifts, and forklifts as needed for job tasks.
- Assist with other departmental tasks, including working with student and temporary employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensed Journeyman Electrician in the State of Oregon.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of troubleshooting tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and correspondence.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and the ability to become certified to operate university vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed as a General Supervising Electrician (S) or Limited Supervising Electrician (PS) in Oregon.
- Experience with mechanical systems and building maintenance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 30 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Frequent operation of motor vehicles and man lifts.
- Exposure to mechanical parts, electrical currents, and potential hazards such as heat and chemicals.
Schedule:
Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Occasional work outside these hours may be required to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent and five years journey level experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting. Extensive experience in building maintenance and/or experience with mechanical systems preferred.
• Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician in the State of Oregon required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, installation, operation and maintenance procedure manuals, safety rules and other technical documents as required.
• Knowledge in the use and care of troubleshooting tools and diagnostic equipment commonly used in the electrical trades.
• Basic knowledge in use of personal computers, including the ability to write routine reports and maintain email correspondence.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work, solve practical problems and deal with a wide variety of variables.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Service oriented, able to maintain a friendly and professional attitude; enhance working environment and get along with others even under adverse conditions; this includes co-workers, all University staff, faculty, and students.
• Possess a valid Oregon driver’s license and be able to become and remain certified to operate Linfield University vehicles and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Licensed as a General Supervising Electrician (S) or Limited Supervising Electrician (PS) in the State of Oregon preferred.

Work is classified as heavy and is very physical in nature, work is performed both outside and inside. Constant seeing, hearing, walking, talking, repetitive motion of wrists, hands and fingers, bending, stooping, twisting, turning and climbing stairs and ladders up to 40 feet in height. Frequent pushing, pulling. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying up to 30 pounds and utilizing team lifting, mechanical tools or alternative methods. Job requires working in confined areas for long periods of time and is required to wear a respirator. Frequent operation of motor vehicle and man lift. Worker is subjected to hazards, including proximity to moving mechanical parts or electrical current, working in high places, and potential for exposure to heat or chemicals.
