What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Technology Faculty position at Linn-Benton Community College?
Teach classes in automotive technology. Specific teaching assignments will depend upon the needs of the College and specific skills of the selected candidate. Program courses cover all automotive systems, including electrical, fuel, engines, power train, steering, suspension, braking and comfort, and Electric Vehicle Technician.

- Associate degree in Automotive and/or Diesel repair or a closely related field
- A minimum of four years’ full-time experience in Automotive and/or Diesel repair
- Experience must include diagnostics and repairs in suspension, steering, brakes, drive train, electrical/electronic systems, and hydraulic systems
7 Years of documented industry experience will be accepted as an equivalent for the educational requirement
- Requires Automotive Service Excellence certification in drive train, automotive engines, suspension and steering, brakes, and electrical/electronic systems
- Must have a valid Oregon driver’s license
- High-Voltage vehicle systems knowledge preferred including Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles
- Bachelor’s degree in related area
- ASE Master Certification in Automotive
Physical Skills and Abilities:
Learned physical required to operate equipment and tools. Changes in performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Sustained walking and standing on concrete floor during lab sessions is required. Duties require frequent bending, standing, kneeling, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate equipment. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and students one-on-one, over the phone, and in classroom/lab settings. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and operate lab equipment.

Working Conditions:
Work is predominately indoors in college automotive/diesel labs and classrooms with potential exposure to safety or health hazards. Work pressures, disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule occur intermittently. Occasional work outside with exposure to inclement weather. Occasional work conditions may require potential exposure to safety hazards, noise extremes, and possible exposure to blood borne pathogens. Occasional travel is required.
- Teach automotive technology classes.
- Maintain office hours.
- Establish and maintain working liaison with local and regional automotive repair industry.
- Participate in student recruitment and advising.
- Maintain shop space and equipment.
- Work with Hybrid/Electric Vehicles to meet new program needs.
- Ensure safety of students and security of the Advanced Transportation & Technology Center.
- Perform other professional duties as needed.
- Model the employability skills that industry partners expect from LBCC graduates.
