What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment and Diesel Technology Faculty position at Linn-Benton Community College?
Instruct students in classroom and laboratory settings in Diesel Technology. Specific teaching assignments will depend on the needs of the College and specific skills of the selected candidate. Program courses cover all Diesel Systems, which include, but are not limited to: Electrical, engines, power trains, steering, suspension, brakes, hydraulics, and HVAC.

Education and Experience:
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in Automotive and/or Diesel repair or a closely related field
- A minimum of four years of full-time experience in the diesel or automotive industry
- Experience must include diagnosing and troubleshooting modern diesel engines, hydraulics, undercarriage, powertrains, HVAC, electrical and electronic systems, on construction and forestry equipment, agriculture, medium to heavy duty trucks or other related heavy equipment
7 Years of documented industry experience will be accepted as an equivalent for the educational requirement
- Have aptitude in the daily use of office computers, as well as diagnostic tools and relevant software
- Have a valid Oregon Driver’s license
- Bachelor’s degree in related area
- Experience with John Deere Construction & Forestry equipment.
- Completion of John Deere University courses. (JDU’s).
- Have a valid Commercial Driver’s License
- Experience in Teaching, Management and Business Administration.
Requires the ability to work with staff and students. Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Essential Duties:
- Promote excellence in instruction. Identify and meet the learning needs of students.
- Revise and update approved curriculum as needed. Develop course schedules and syllabi.
- Identify and recommend textbooks, instructional materials, equipment and supplies needed for instruction.
- Plan, develop and deliver course lectures and activities.
- Plan, develop and deliver laboratory/shop instruction, materials and procedures incorporating state-of-the-art industry practices.
- Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written English.
- Maintain accurate grade and attendance records in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continued professional development.
- Collaborate with the dean, faculty and staff to realize progress toward the college’s strategic goals.
- Establish and maintain a working liaison with local diesel industry partners.
- Participate in student recruitment and advising activities.
- Oversee the maintenance of shop equipment.
