The Social Media & Marketing Student Assistant supports the LBCC Foundation’s mission by creating engaging digital content and helping share stories of student success, donor impact, and community partnerships. This role contributes to the Foundation’s outreach efforts through social media management, basic graphic design, and content writing. Working closely with Foundation staff, this position helps build connections between LBCC students, alumni, donors, and community members. This role provides hands-on experience in communications and marketing, allowing students to build a professional portfolio of social media campaigns, design work, and published content that showcases their skills for future career opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Current LBCC student
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Photography/videography skills
- Experience with content writing or storytelling
- Knowledge of social media best practices
- Interest in nonprofit or educational communications
- Interest in developing a professional marketing and communications portfolio
- 10-20 hours per week during regular business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm) based on their class schedule
- Potential for evening/weekend hours for LBCC Foundation events
- Primarily office environment with computer workstation
- Ability to lift/carry photography equipment up to 15 pounds
- Regular mentorship and guidance provided to support portfolio development and professional growth
- Social Media Management (40%)
- Create and schedule posts across the LBCC Foundation’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
- Monitor engagement and track analytics
- Capture Foundation events and activities for social content
- Document successful campaigns and engagement metrics for portfolio use
- Graphic Design & Visual Content (30%)
- Design social media graphics using established LBCC brand guidelines
- Create simple marketing materials for Foundation events and campaigns
- Maintain organized digital asset files
- Compile design projects and branded materials into a professional portfolio
- Writing & Content Development (20%)
- Write social media posts and captions
- Draft student success stories and donor spotlights
- Assist with newsletter content and email communications
- General Administrative Support (10%)
- Support Foundation events as needed
- Assist with basic office tasks
- Other duties as assigned
