COMMUNITY HEALTH ANALYST
Public Health Program (Classification 735)
SEIU Full Time (37.5 hours/week) position
Gather, research, and analyze health-related data to identify, understand, interpret and extrapolate community health trends. Utilize findings to identify and communicate priorities and guide population-relevant strategies. Ensure that activities are community-focused, data-driven, and effective in improving public health outcomes.
A Bachelor's Degree with a focus in public health, epidemiology or another closely-related field and at least one (1) year of work experience with a public health agency or comparable organization. Master's Degree applicants are preferred. Must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment since travel to and from satellite clinics may be required.

- Community Assessment and Engagement: Engage with community members, leaders, and organizations to build trust and understanding of the health concerns and interests across populations in Linn County. Inquire and investigate the determinants of local health outcomes, contributing to health strategies and recommendations. Play a lead role in the Regional Community Health Assessment processes and contribute to the Community Health Implementation Plan.
- Qualitative Data Collection and Interpretation: Design, gather and analyze qualitative research to gain a nuanced and context-specific understanding of priorities, perspectives, motivations, and barriers to health. This includes conducting and interpreting findings from interviews, focus groups, and/or observations to develop a comprehensive understanding of health issues and trends in Linn County.
- Quantitative Data Analysis: Gather, organize, and illustrate quantitative data from existing databases and sources. Utilize statistical software to analyze health survey and behavioral data to identify patterns and correlations that can inform health strategies and interventions.
- Communication and Data Visualization: Create visual representations of data, such as charts, graphs, infographics, and dashboards to make complex and layered information relatable and audience specific. Develop narratives that connect data insights to real-world implications. Techniques and tools include storytelling to frame data in a way that resonates with audiences, illustrating points with real-life examples, case studies, or hypothetical scenarios.
- Program Evaluation: Monitor and assess health trends and program outcomes. Advise on evaluation designs, analysis, and implementation, providing recommendations for program improvements. Track key performance indicators, prepare reports on progress and provide insights to improve ongoing and future health promotion efforts.
- Preparation and Response: Support health emergencies and outbreak response initiatives by participating in trainings, intervention designs, and active data collection to support coordination among government agencies and health officials.
- Support to department programs: Contribute to the integration of services across all programs and work to ensure the successful implementation of Public Health Modernization practices.
- Grants and program development: Support requests for proposals with relevant data and evaluation recommendations; participate on internal and external committees and workgroups related to areas of expertise; conduct literature reviews and evaluation design.
