CLASSIFICATION TITLE: SEASONAL ROAD MAINTENANCE WORKER 1
CLASSIFICATION NUMBER: 240
CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY: TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME, NON-UNION
The Linn County Road Department is accepting applications for 16 seasonal road maintenance workers. These are
temporary, full-time positions lasting approximately three months. See ‘Work Period’ below.
The Linn County Road Department provides on-the-job training for skills, knowledge, and necessary certifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work Zone Traffic Control, “Flagging” – Safely direct and control traffic in and around work zones.
- Manual Labor – Perform manual labor including but not limited to cutting and removing roadside vegetation;
materials; installing and/or repairing fences, rails, and signposts.
- Road and Bridge Maintenance – Work under supervision with very high temperature equipment and materials to

- Equipment Operations – Operate light duty pickup trucks, compaction equipment (rollers), self-propelled brooms,
- Exposure - Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather and in all areas of the County.
- Performance - Must be able to work continuously in a productive manner, with a professional demeanor;
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a high school or possession of a GED Certificate
- Possession of a valid Driver License and an acceptable driving record
- Work requirements include being able to see, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, jump and run; the ability to sit, stand,
reach with hands and arms, and will lift or move ninety (90) pounds.
COMPENSATION: $18.00 per hour, no fringe benefits.
CLOSING DATE: Open until filled.
WORK PERIOD: Monday, June 16th through Thursday, September 18th, 2025.
Some positions may start sooner; some positions may last longer.
TYPICAL SCHEDULE: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
