DISTRICT 2 COUNTY SUPERVISOR

This posting is to collect applications for the Linn County Board of Supervisors District 2 vacancy. All applications are subject to public records requirements. Applicants must include a resume and cover letter with their application. Applications submitted without a resume or cover letter will not be considered. 

The applicant selected will serve until the 2026 general election, or until a special election is triggered by one of the following: 

• A valid petition 
• A change in state law that requires vacancies to be filled by special election

The Linn County Board of Supervisors (Board) is the governing body of Linn County government. The Board serves as a legislative and executive body. The Board sets policy, both fiscal and social, and manages the provision of Linn County governmental services and programs. The Board determines the County budget, including budgets of each County office and department. The Board levies property taxes and secures other sources of revenue to fund County offices and departments and appropriates funds as well as oversees the expenditure of funds for County office and department budgets. The Board reviews and approves payment of charges for operation of County government. The Board manages County departments reporting to it. The Board enacts ordinances and policies and procedures to implement the powers and duties of county government in Iowa. The powers and duties of the Board of Supervisors are set forth in Chapter 331, Code of Iowa.

• Must be 18 years of age or older 
• Must be a registered voter
• Must be a resident of Linn County for at least 60 days prior to appointment and a resident of District 2 at time of appointment
