Summary of Position
The Talent Acquisition team is seeking a Law Clerk / Intern for the Lionsgate Alternative Television Business and Legal Affairs department. This position provides legal support to a team of attorneys, and will be responsible for organizing and filing documents, drafting legal memoranda, performing legal research, reviewing various legal contracts, and formatting and editing correspondence, agreements, pleadings and other documentation.
Responsibilities
- Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks, competing demands, and fluctuating deadlines.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with a solid working knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and sentence structure to provide proofreading and editing of documents prepared by attorneys.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with staff, executives, departments and business partners in a collaborative, patient and tactful manner.
- Familiarity with legal documents (correspondence, contracts, pleadings) and legal terms to be able to correctly identify, index, file and retrieve information for various transactional and litigation matters.
- Highly organized and methodical to ensure proper filing, indexing and maintenance of correspondence and legal documents.
- Demonstrate high level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality to handle sensitive and / or proprietary information.
- Prepare and format basic form agreements.
- Participate in training modules
- Research niche areas of the law
- Draft legal memoranda
- Assemble, serve and file legal documents for delivery to third parties, courts, administrative agencies, in conformance with the applicable format, rules and / or requirements of the network, agency or court.
- Handle pre-filing procedures (signature verification, proofs of service, cover sheets, e-filing procedures), and case preparation (exhibit assembly, bates stamping, document indexing).
- Research and review statutes and rules of court to ascertain and follow proper procedures and forms by which matters are submitted for consideration.

Business Unit Overview
Lionsgate Alternative Television's Business and Legal Affairs department handles a high volume of development and production deals, agreements, and matters for various non-scripted television programs produced for multiples networks on behalf of its various labels, including Pilgrim Media Group, Blackfin, and Renegade. The team provides general support and advice to business executives, in-house development and production teams and other departments on various matters including talent, publicity, licensing, labor & employment, risk management, pre-broadcast content review, intellectual property, rights clearance, and litigation.
