Description

The Regional Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing clinical functions and ensuring the highest standard of patient care across multiple long-term care facilities. This role requires a seasoned Registered Nurse with substantial long-term care Director of Nursing experience. The Regional Director will collaborate with executive leadership and facility management to drive clinical excellence, implement strategic initiatives, and ensure regional regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Leadership
    1. Direct and oversee all clinical operations across the region, ensuring that patient care standards meet or exceed industry benchmarks.
    2. Lead and mentor clinical teams, including facility Directors of Nursing, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    3. Serve as the clinical expert, providing guidance on complex patient care issues and best practices.
  2. Strategic Planning
    1. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement regional clinical strategies that support organizational goals and improve patient outcomes.
    2. Identify and evaluate opportunities for service expansion and quality improvement within long-term care settings.
    3. Develop and execute strategic plans to integrate innovative clinical practices and technologies.
  3. Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement
    1. Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical protocols and quality assurance programs.
    2. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of clinical services and patient satisfaction.
    3. Regularly review and analyze performance data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  4. Staff Development and Leadership
    1. Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities for clinical staff and facility directors.
    2. Oversee recruitment, retention, and training programs to build a high-performing clinical team.
    3. Promote an environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and a patient-centered approach.
  5. Financial Oversight
    1. Collaborate with finance teams to develop and manage budgets for clinical operations.
    2. Monitor financial performance related to clinical services and identify cost-effective solutions without compromising care quality.
    3. Ensure efficient resource allocation to maximize both clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
  6. Compliance and Risk Management
    1. Ensure that all clinical operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies.
    2. Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard patient care and reduce liability.
    3. Lead internal audits and facilitate external inspections, addressing any areas requiring corrective action.
  7. Collaboration and Communication
    1. Act as the primary liaison between clinical teams, facility management, and corporate leadership.
    2. Facilitate clear and consistent communication across all levels of the organization to align clinical initiatives with business objectives.
    3. Represent the organization in external stakeholder engagements, regulatory meetings, and community outreach events.
  8. Performance Measurement and Reporting
    1. Establish robust reporting mechanisms to track clinical performance and quality metrics.
    2. Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding operational outcomes, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
    3. Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and guide future clinical strategies.

Qualifications


  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current and unencumbered license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical experience, with at least 3-5 years specializing in long-term care Director of Nursing role.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state regulations governing long-term care nursing, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive organizational change related to nursing practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
