What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lecturer in Kinesiology position at Lipscomb University?
The Lecturer in Kinesiology will have the following academic qualifications:
- a doctorate degree in a related field (e.g., exercise physiology, kinesiology, sport science, etc.) or
- a masters degree if bolstered by advanced credentials (e.g., EP-C, CSCS, C-ISSN, etc.)
- The lecturer should have prior experience in teaching at the university level; previous skills as a researcher are not required as this position is teaching position.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required, along with excellent communication and collaborative skills.
As a lecturer at a Christian university, strong commitment to Christian higher education, the university's mission and Christian identity, and the integration of faith and learning is expected. This individual should be able to articulate how Christian faith informs and enriches the field of Kinesiology.
Responsibilities: Teaching up to 30 credits per academic year

Lecturers are academic experts who teach full- or part-time in a non-tenure track position…Time spent as a lecturer does not typically count toward eligibility for tenure or fringe benefits. Typically, faculty with the Lecturer designation hold at least the master’s degree but less than the earned doctor’s degree while faculty with the Senior Lecturer designation hold a doctorate or equivalent degree or has served the university with excellence for more than five years. Lecturers full-time teaching load is considered 30 hours of teaching for a 10-month contract (five courses per semester). Upon recommendation from the dean, a Lecturer may be promoted to Senior Lecturer after five years of service.
