Dispatcher Job Description
Liquid Transport Corp, a leader in the transportation industry, has an immediate opening for an Experienced Dispatcher at their Reserve, LA terminal.
The ideal candidate will have experience in liquid bulk and contribute to the smooth running of the terminal operation by efficient utilization of manpower and equipment through directing and controlling the efforts of drivers and administrative personnel (where applicable) using discretionary judgment to enforce Company Policy regarding operations and complying with state and federal laws.
- Discretion required when dispatching drivers and assigning loads for: local pick-ups, local delivery and long haul, ensuring that drivers are “Qualified" prior to dispatch, and coordinate dispatch activities with Central Dispatch where applicable;
- Receive orders and enter into computer, assign load to equipment and driver in a manner to ensure on time pick-up and delivery and to meet the FMCSA hours of service regulations and customers’ requirements, prepare and issue all delivery documentation to the driver, update computerized dispatch and assure driver accurately completes and turns in all required paperwork;
- Daily interfaces with the customer, in a courteous manner, using independent judgment when handling loads based on the economics of the situation, equipment specifications and availability and driver availability and contacts the customer to apprise them of any delay or other arrangement once load is accepted;
- Continuous communications with maintenance facility to assure necessary repair items are completed to minimize down time - schedule tank preps with maintenance;
- Prepare clean-out list with special procedures (if any);
- Perform a regular yard check, and inform relief of the next dispatcher shift, if applicable;
- Monitor the process in place to receive and audit logs;
- Experience with TMW IT platform and Peoplenet ELD programs is preferred;
- Recommend to the Terminal Manager any disciplinary action felt necessary;
- Assist the terminal manager with the development, implementation, training and measurement of the Quality Process, communication and documentation of incidents and or accidents and responses to shipper or consignee complaints;

Dispatcher Job Requirements
- 1-2 years trucking dispatch experience.
- Liquid bulk chemical cargo tank experience preferred.
- On-call weekends. (Varies: we follow a week at a time and rotate amongst dispatchers.)
- Computer literate, comfortable with order entry and administrative skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical skills sufficient to calculate and prepare records as required.
- High School degree or equivalent GED certificate.
