Job Summary
We are looking for Senior Manager, Cost Accounting to join our growing Finance team. You will be the first dedicated hire for the function and will be responsible for all aspects of inventory costing and accounting. Senior Manager, Cost Accounting will report to the Director of Accounting.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee inventory costing including calculation and documentation of standard costs and inventory values, including external contract manufacturing organization costs, labor and overhead rates and direct material costs
- Coordinate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure that material costs, bill-of-materials, work orders, and labor and overhead rates are accurate
- Maintain inventory management system, including setup of items, bill-of-materials, and understand, facilitate and understand work order process flow and the impact on manufacturing costs.
- Prepare inventory-related journal entries and ensure that cost of goods sold and inventory are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and are reconciled to underlying support
- Assess inventory obsolescence and net realizable value
- Review and approve internal inventory cycle counts and inventory adjustments.
- Contribute to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including completing reconciliations and escalating and resolving issues
- Perform monthly variance analysis on cost of goods sold and balance sheet accounts and prepare commentary explaining the variances
- Identify, recommend, and implement best practices in inventory accounting and streamline inventory operations, systems, and procedures
- Assist in annual budget planning and reforecasting
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain or a related field
- 5 years in inventory accounting with manufacturing experience
Nice to have:
- Pharma background including experience in FDA/GMP regulated environment
- Experience with NetSuite
- CPA or CMA

- Solid IT skills, including management of ERP applications
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
