Heavy Equipment Operator- All Experience Levels

Position: Heavy Equipment Operator

Department: Mine Operations

Reports To: Mine Operations Superintendent, Mine Operations Shift Supervisor

Location: 920 S. County Road 313, La Sal, UT 84530

Description:

• Safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, bulldozers, excavators, graders, haul trucks and drills.
• Work in all areas of the Mine as needed. (Includes process areas)
• Utilize equipment in a manner that maximizes productivity and minimizes wear and down time.
• Perform and document pre-shift and post-shift inspections of mobile equipment and work areas.
• Maintain safe working conditions and assure that all crewmembers and others on the site follow all safety and regulatory procedures and practices to ensure a safe and successful workplace.
• Complete general labor activities and other duties as required.

General Requirements:

• Will be expected to learn and practice applicable safety and environmental regulations for federal, state, local and company areas.
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills.
• All employees will be expected to perform manual labor on an as-needed basis.
• Willingness to be trained in other positions as needed.
• Shall comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Always maintain strict adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
• Properly perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment and immediately report any concerns or damage to the Shift Supervisor.
• Complete and maintain all associated paperwork including inspection sheets, daily time sheets, risk assessments etc....
• Demonstrate safe & efficient operation of equipment under all working conditions.
• Maintain the ability to recognize hazards, communicate them and correct them as appropriate.
• Demonstrate the ability to task train new operators as needed.
• Perform minor repairs and service as needed.

Job Qualifications:

• Previous work history in heavy equipment operation preferred.
• Shall possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• MSHA Surface Metal and Non-Metal Miner Training preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, pulling, pushing, standing for an entire shift. (12 hours)
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• May be exposed to sulfuric acid, fumes, dust, diesel, gas, oil, solvents, and other hazardous materials.
• Must be able to work holidays, extended hours, overtime and be available for on-call status.

Compensation

$25-$45 per hour. May vary dependent on the candidate’s specific qualifications.
