SUMMARY
The Production Unit Manager will oversee and coordinate activities within their assigned production unit(s) in an efficient manner to achieve optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes in accordance with product specifications, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and quality standards. The individual ensures that company policies and guidelines are accurately interpreted and implemented. Monitors process, quality and quantity of production to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly targets are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures production goals are met within the assigned production unit(s) to meet production unit goals and deadlines.
- Manage daily production unit meetings (Problem Solving Management) to resolve HSE, quality, and production issues and address results vs. KPIs with cross-functional departments.
- Direct and manage Production Group Supervisors and other department employees; provide necessary tools, knowledge, and support for success.
- Develop a vision, strategy, and key objectives aligned with the Company’s goals and lead by example in executing these objectives.
- Ensure assignments and tasks affecting product quality and established objectives are completed on time, notifying supervision when necessary.
- Provide insightful leadership that creates positive morale.
- Assign machines and manpower to meet production schedules and ensure on-time delivery to customers.
- Manage manufacturing processes to meet deadlines and production goals.
- Manage production to meet monthly budgets.
- Organize process data using tools such as 8D, 5S, Kaizen, Lean, Six-Sigma (DMAIC), VSM, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to reduce process variation and improve quality and throughput.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance and machine uptime.
- Devise Departmental Action Plans to support the achievement of the Company’s and Department’s long-term goals and objectives.
- Assign and schedule work to production employees, including supervisors and manufacturing engineering.
- Monitor equipment usage and employee quality of work, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Monitor tools, material, quality, and production.
- Drive corrective actions and confirm the full cycle of problem-solving and prevention.
- Organize and maintain high standards of performance, quality, and customer service for the production unit.
- Implement company policies and guidelines as prescribed by management.
- Maintain training for job-related functions.
- Interview, evaluate, hire, train, motivate, supervise and discipline all personnel under direct supervision.
- Conduct personnel functions; coach for improved performance, identify / develop high potential employees, conduct performance evaluations, and recommend compensation increases within company guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, and LISI Aerospace policies, procedures, and plans.
- All employees are responsible for attending training provided and adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times. Responsible for the safety program implementation for all Factory personnel.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.

Must model safety excellence by wearing prescribed PPE and ensuring employees under their supervision adhere to all safety rules. Has ultimate responsibility and authority to stop production if any hazard is present that may affect the safety of employees.
