Position Purpose
A crucial part of the immigration application process is often an interview with a USCIS officer. These interviews offer our clients a chance to tell their story and explain why their application should be approved.
We are in the process of building a nationwide team of attorneys to work with clients to prepare for and attend these interviews. We are looking for a strong, creative, and organized leader to help us build and manage this team! This position will directly train and manage a team of Regional Supervising Attorneys who will be responsible for interviews in their regions across the country.
With a team working across the nation, it is vitally important that our interview team is providing red carpet service and passionate advocacy in a consistent manner for each of our clients, no matter where they live. The National Supervising Attorney will be responsible for working with the Regional Supervising Attorneys to implement and audit standard processes across the team. The National Supervising Attorney will also be responsible for identifying patterns or trends in interviews and helping develop the legal strategy to respond accordingly. The National Supervisor will also work to ensure consistency in the way the team approaches challenges or regularly identified legal issues. This position will also be responsible for working with operational leaders to develop capacity plans to ensure that our team has the capacity to cover all interviews and shift resources between regions if necessary.
This position should have experience attending USCIS interviews; experience doing so in humanitarian (VAWA, T-visa, U-visa) and family based cases a strong plus. We will offer a training program for our specific case types and internal processes as part of the onboarding. The ideal candidate will be a creative advocate who has experience managing large teams of attorneys to operate in a consistent and effective manner. The ideal candidate will be motivated to lead a team to help our clients obtain documents and stay united with their families. Although this position is not expected to regularly travel, there may be some travel required for training. While the ability to speak Spanish will be helpful, this position will work with a translator for client preparation and interviews.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Train and manage a team of Regional Supervising Attorneys to ensure strong and consistent performance related to interviews across the country.
- Create, implement, and audit standard processes, procedures, and training for entire team.
- Collect data and feedback to identify trends and patterns related to interviews. Develop and disseminate create and persuasive legal strategies to respond to these patterns.
- Work with leaders in other teams to identify lessons learned in interview to improve application preparation and other efforts.
- Train a team of staff attorneys to prepare clients for interviews and how to attend interviews with clients.
- Handle escalations from Regional Supervising Attorneys.
- Monitor capacity and shift resources between regions to ensure full coverage of interviews.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Experience attending USCIS interviews; experience doing so in humanitarian (VAWA, T-visa, U-visa) and family based cases a plus.
- Strong passionate advocate; background in mock trial, moot court, depositions, and/or litigation will be helpful
- Experience training, managing and motivating a team of attorneys
- Experience developing, implementing and auditing standard processes
- Bilingual in English and Spanish helpful, but not required as translators will be provided
- Experience using a case management software system preferred
- Support mission of helping people currently living in America obtain their documents and stay together with their family

Minimum Qualifications
- The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of a state bar
