JOB DESCRIPTION
The function of the Field Technician III is to assist project management, sales, and engineering in the deployment of project deliverables within budget and on-time. This individual is considered an experienced installation technician with intermediate/advanced programming skills and the ability to drive project completion through project-based leadership of additional assigned technician resources. Daily/weekly tasks include, but are not limited to pre-wiring, trim-out, installation services (a/v, security, surveillance, lighting, shading, etc.), advanced hardware/software configuration, retrofitting, networking, programming, creation of daily work reports, and other tasks necessary to complete the project successfully.
This role is for a motivated and experienced individual on our ever expanding installation team. This individual should have a positive attitude, work well on a team, communicate effectively, be organized and adaptable as well as develop leadership skills within the project team dynamic.
This role may require working the occasional weekend, evening, or overtime from time to time. Travel distance, while generally local, does vary and occasionally requires overnight commitments.
Role Summary:
The Field Technician III reports to the Technical Operations Manager and/or Branch Manager.

Field Technician III Responsibilities:
- Fill out Field Service Invoices (FSIs) for any work completed on a daily basis
- Document project specific information in the Network Data Sheet (NDS)
- Perform van inventory weekly
- Stock van with sufficient parts to complete needed tasks/projects
- Clean/organize van on a regular basis
- Inform project management and sales staff of job status and needed changes
- Perform continuing education/training on new products and concepts
- Keep acquired certifications up to date
- Train clients on their systems and answer any questions they may have
- Gather necessary equipment from the warehouse staff for the day’s projects
- Act as a project lead and guide your peers to project completion
- Keep a project moving efficiently when working onsite
- Adapt to unforeseen project changes
- Properly manage and communicate any project equipment returns
- Use the proper hand/power tools for the correct task
- Read and understand design documentation
- Follow safety guidelines regarding jobs tasks and construction site environments
- Continually check your work and abide by ListenUp’s high standards
- Keep the jobsite clean will working and do a thorough cleanup at the end of each day
- Take shoes off or wear booties when entering a client’s home
- Use moving blankets to protect floors, furniture, and working surfaces to prevent damage to client’s property
- Pre-wire and trim-out projects to design specifications
- Terminate various types of wires (Cat-6, Coax, etc)
- Install A/V, security, and surveillance systems
- Properly configure the above referenced systems
- Perform audio calibration on all ListenUp supported AVRs, processors, and preamps
- Build A/V racks with proper organizational and wire management techniques
- Deploy audio and video distribution systems
- Understand proper heat management and organize equipment so heat is properly dispersed
- Adequately manage all wiring so it can be easy identified and traced
- Install various styles of acoustical treatments
- Deploy lighting and shading solutions
- Commission and program the above referenced systems at a basic to intermediate level
- Fully comprehend network topology and how to execute basic/intermediate networks
- Retrofit wiring in existing structures with minimal damage
- Program most ListenUp supported control systems at a basic to intermediate level (URC, Control4, Savant, Crestron, and Lutron)
- Troubleshoot a/v gear, security, surveillance, networks, and control systems
- Assist Project Manager, Technical Operations Manager, or Branch Manager as needed
CRITERIA
Required Skills:
- Use of hand and power tools in both new construction and finished residential environments
- Ability to work independently and as a project team leader
- Problem solving, troubleshooting, and creative thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have an elevated understanding of networking, A/V design, and troubleshooting
- Self starter who is highly motivated and dedicated to driving project completion alongside the team
Required Experience/Education:
- 4 or more years experience in the installation, integration, programming and support of audio/visual systems hardware, software and technical infrastructure
- Knowledge and experience with Control4, Savant, Crestron, Lutron, and/or relevant control systems
- Experience deploying home networks and control systems as well as the ability to troubleshoot and obtain completion of those aspects of a project
- Thorough experience with installation and configuration of shading, lighting, security, and surveillance solutions
- Work experience in construction environments
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Experience/Education:
- Electrical experience and/or licensure
- Some higher education
Required Certifications:
- Technical certification for networking (ESC-N, PCNA, or equivalent)
- Control 4 - Automation Programmer
- RadioRa3 Certification
- Cedia CIT / IST certification coupled with any related coursework in audio/visual system installation
- Homeworks QSX Certification
- Valid driver’s license with clean motor vehicle report
Preferred Certifications:
- Control system certifications (Savant, Crestron, or equivalent)
