POSITION SUMMARY: Working closely with the Mechanical Design Team, Product Development Team, and the Director of Efficiency, the Director of Production will strategize the best approach to manufacturing assemblies and structures, integrating industry best practices and lean manufacturing principles. This position demands a hands-on leadership approach, balancing direct team engagement with high-level oversight of all production phases—from initial fabrication through final shipping.


The Director of Production oversee’s all department leads, setting delivery of parts and materials to the assembly team. With the support of the Fabrication Project Manager, Procurement and the Director of Efficiency they will determine the production schedule to ensure delivery of completed units to clients on schedule and within budget.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

MANAGEMENT:

·      Oversee production workflow, employee scheduling, and assign tasks to align with project deadlines.

·      Manage employee schedules and duties to align with company due dates and budget.

·      Mentor and Coach employees in support of company policies, procedures, and instilling LIT culture.

·      Delegate tasks to Leads and Supervisors and hold them accountable to due dates and budgets.

·      Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, interviews, onboarding and when necessary disciplinary actions.

·      Set S.M.A.R.T. goals for all employees and follow up to ensure goals are being achieved.

·      Work closely with HR to ensure a safe and professional work environment.

·      Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining a calm and adaptable demeanor.

·      Onboard new employees, ensuring they follow safety procedures, and receive timely and critical feedback during their probationary period.

·      Partner with Safety Coordinator in the enforcement of company Safety policies and OSHA compliance.

 

PRODUCTION:

·      Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes and workflow for each project.

·      Ensure employee work meets Quality Assurance requirements, including inspections and regulatory standards.

·      Track and deliver projects on time both to client and internal departments, that meet LIT’s KPI requirements.

·      Assist Procurement with enforcement of our inventory process including tools and equipment.

·      Inform Project Managers and Senior Management of any concerns that may arise with client projects.

·      Work with Facilities to ensure tools and machinery are in good working order.

·      Onsite attendance is required working an average of 45 hours a week.

·      Work with Shipping Manager to provide accurate dates and completion times to scheduling of deliveries.

·      Other duties as assigned by Senior Management.


·      10 years in construction, manufacturing or fabrication required.

·      8 years of management experience including hiring, mentoring and performance appraisals.

·      Established experience setting and meeting KPI requirements for fabrication.

·      Proficient understanding of CAD drawings, blueprints, and equivalent fabrication drawings.

·      Proficient understanding of fabrication processes and techniques to solve a wide range of problems.

·      Comfort in public speaking, and ability to hold large and small group meetings.

·      Excellent organizational and communication skills.

·      Quality Management Program experience, ISO experience a plus.

·      Highly experienced with Microsoft Office Suite.
