What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floating Teacher position at Little Bug Learning?
Job Overview:
The Floating Teacher role at Little Bug Learning is the perfect opportunity for you if you love working with children, are new to the field looking to grow, or are a seasoned caregiver looking for an early childhood education role that doesn't require you to complete lesson plans or have primary responsibility for the same group everyday.
Our Floaters work hand-in-hand with primary classroom staff to ensure that our classrooms continue to run smoothly even when a teacher is off. They also contribute to our efforts to be a high-quality early childhood environment by assisting with providing primary classroom staff with time to complete lesson plans, assisting as extra hands and eyes during busy parts of the day, and providing additional support to children as needed to help them solve problems and have fun each day. As a Floater, every day holds something new and you get to know every child in every age group - there's never a dull moment!
The ideal candidate for the Floating Teacher role is someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with young children and is comfortable assisting with daily caregiving routines such as changing diapers, assisting with meal times, and reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" no less than three times a day. As the day-to-day duties of a Floating Teacher change regularly, applicants should ensure they are excited about a position that requires mental flexibility, an open mind, and the ability to interact with a variety of people (big and small) on a regular basis.
Job Details:
Applicants for the Floating Teacher position should be prepared to work full time 8:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday and should be comfortable working in classrooms with children of varying ages from infancy to prekindergarten. Applicants with previous experience working with children are preferred, but those new to the early childhood field are encouraged to apply if they are interested in gaining experience and are willing to participate in professional development to increase their skill set and knowledge. A high school diploma or GED, at minimum, is required for this position.
